From my iGoogle RSS feeds:
No insult to SwissInfo as this is endemic in the news industry, but why aren’t we as eager to name a Christian Fundamentalist a “terrorist” as a bunch of stupid violent tree-huggers (ones that give the rest of us tree-huggers a bad name frankly)?
In a word – “propaganda”.
In any case, this is not to belittle the tragedy in Norway. As I noted in the comment section of another blog: Really – children?
Sadly I think it’s less likely to find a Jihadi terrorist that would shoot a child at point blank range with a shotgun than “one of our own” as it were.
Again, really – children? I just can’t fathom it. Being a father to me it’s a huge character flaw if anyone doesn’t naturally feel compassion for children. Granted I didn’t want children when I was younger (clue to others that are similarly inclined – honestly you’re missing out on the entire “raison d’ĂȘtre” of life), but that didn’t mean I wanted to see bad things happen to them either.
We can and will go on about politics, religion, gun control, etc. but in the end, this guy was a psychopath. The rest is just “talking head” stuff. That doesn’t mean say, sane gun policies wouldn’t help or we should be concerned about fanaticism, but in the end this guy was a psycho.
My thoughts go out to the families and those affected here. I don’t know what I’d do if these were those I loved and cared for.
