When we look back…

When we look back at the revolution that took hold in the Middle East these past months, we need to remember at least 2 important things:

  1. In most of the cases the regimes that are falling, are regimes that we Americans supported.
  2. That for all of the vitriol aimed at WikiLeaks, it may well be that it was a critical catalyst in the tinder that started this fire.

It should make one seriously consider, “Has our policy been, and does it continue to be, one that creates and supports these sorts of regimes?” Because when one looks closely, it seems that way. That is even true to some extent for the ones we vilify and thus gird the populations in support of.

Perhaps we should serious consider, as silly as it might sound, the “Prime Directive” for our day to day international relations?
