I used to consider myself an independent until “independent” turned into sort of meaning “I’m a Republican but I’m too embarrassed to admit it” or alternatively, “It’s two days before the election and I’m still too clueless to pick a [...] Liberal Marxist? The same one who uses Orwellian “state secrets”, who expanded the war in Afghanistan, who sold out single [...] The always excellent Brad Delong (Deling?) writes regarding those supporting Bush’s policies: “I believe [censored] was a deserter in that war–a supporter of George W. Bush, and of his unfunded Medicare Part D expansion, and of his wars of choice. So I don’t think he has standing to make the small government argument–some people do, [...] As reported in the NY times, the poverty rate increased dramatically in 2009: “The poverty rate climbed to 14.3 percent — the highest since 1994 — from 13.2 percent in 2008.
