Hey, I’m all for a, “What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start!” kind of joke, but have you ever noticed that conservative jokes always have a tendency to be a little, well, violent? I received this recent jem from a friend:

The convergence of a couple things got me thinking about Woody Guthrie‘s famous “This Land Is Your Land” folk song that we all grow up with. In elementary school it’s practically ingrained in us as a mantra and subsequently there are probably few who don’t remember at least the refrain:

Living in the “Live Free or Die” state, I have a lot of friends who aren’t exactly “liberal”. In fact some of them actually make Sean Hannity look “fair and balanced”. Still, your friends are your friends and you love them regardless of their obvious pathological tendencies.
